Tanjong Pagar
About
Tanjong Pagar means cape of stakes in Malay, probably after the stakes that fishermen set for their traps. The historic district, inside the Central Business District, mixes old and new buildings, among them Guoco Tower, the tallest building in the country, and the Pinnacle@Duxton, its tallest public housing. Thian Hock Keng, one of Singapore's oldest temples, is 530 m from the centre, and the Korean restaurants along Tanjong Pagar Road have given the street the name Little Korea. Amoy Street Food Centre, Tanjong Pagar Plaza and Maxwell Food Centre are all within 500 m, and Tanjong Pagar station (East-West Line) is 110 m away.
